Holidaying at Home & Enjoying Your Garden

Garden UK

We all know that 2020 has NOT been the year for going abroad!

With the announcement that UK holidaymakers in various countries will have to quarantine at home for two weeks, more and more people are cancelling their holiday plans and choosing to stay at home instead.

But just because you’re not going away this year doesn’t mean that you can’t have a well-deserved break a little closer to home! In fact, we reckon you could have a great stay-cation in your very own garden.

Take a look at our top tips on recreating your perfect holiday at home:

Festival at home

Recreate a... festival

Festival season doesn’t have to be cancelled! Many people recreated Glastonbury Festival in their own gardens earlier this summer, inviting friends and family over for socially-distant gatherings.

You could do the same for Reading and Leeds, which would have taken place this upcoming bank holiday weekend. Here are some things which could help spruce up your mini festival:

Lighting - Think fairy lights and camping lamps mixed in with some colourful bunting. It will create the ultimate cosy atmosphere when the day turns to night!

Seating - Get hold of some comfy camping chairs and vibrant picnic blankets.

Music - This is probably the most important part! If you want to pay tribute to this year’s cancelled Reading and Leeds fest, make sure to get Oasis, Stormzy and Rage Against The Machine blasting through your speakers.

Garden spa

Recreate a... spa break

There’s nothing more relaxing than a luxury spa break - they provide respite from your busy day-to-day life and give you the opportunity to truly unwind. If you’re not able to get yourself to a spa this summer, then bring the spa to your garden!

We have a few suggestions that could help transform your outdoor space into the ultimate serene spa experience:

Invest in a hot tub - Hot tubs have been all the rage this year, with inflatable ones available for as little as £300! Many are sold out at the moment but available to pre-order, so keep your eye out.

Put up a screen - Corner off your own little paradise with a screen.

Lay down porcelain paving - Use this revamp as an excuse to introduce beautiful porcelain paving into your garden. At Landscape World, our porcelain paving options are resistant to mould and staining. This makes them the ideal low-maintenance material to use in your garden, especially if you have a hot tub.

camping in garden

Recreate a… camping holiday

If you were planning on going camping in Europe this summer and have found that all the UK campsites are fully booked, you should definitely set up a campsite of your own!

With the correct gear, it will feel like you’re a million miles away from home (when in fact, you’ll be right next to it!).

BBQ - There’s nothing better than a good ol’ barbie when you’re camping. As you’ll be staying in your own garden, you don’t have to worry about bringing disposable BBQs with you! Now’s the time to invest in a proper BBQ that you can reuse again and again.

Furniture - For an authentic outdoor experience, camping chairs are a must.

Nature - Ideally, you want your garden to be wildlife-friendly. If you live in the city or a busy suburb this might not be the easiest thing to achieve, but our top tips for attracting garden birds could get you one step closer to being at one with nature.
